1 SAP HR ORGANIZATIONAL KEY CONFIGURATION
The configuration of the Organizational Key within SAP HR on IT0001 is to define a unique
combination to be used in authorizations.

1.2 SETUP ORGANIZATIONAL KEY
Organization key is used for authorization purpose and here you can assign other dept./org. unit
for the employee. To assign the key, use the VDSK1 feature and make the correct default value.
Definition: Field in authorization objects that is used to run diverse authorization checks by
organizational assignment (using the P_ORGIN authorization object).
The content of the organizational key is either derived by the system from the fields of the
Organizational Assignment infotype (0001) or entered manually by the user.
2. Select MOLGA and click Create Node and select the Country Grouping
3. Select the Country Grouping and click Create Node again and a pop up is displayed. Select
Return Value.

4. Maintain the Return Value as your Country Grouping (This return value is the same as the
Variable Key when creating the Control)
5. Click to Activate and Save.

1.2.2 Organizational key: Control
1. At the Activity, select Control.
2. Enter a Variable Key, which can be the same as the Country Grouping and is free to be
defined.
3. Choose the Default/Validation method. Validation/Default 4 does not require validation
when defaulting hence the better option.
4. Enter the Creation Rule which can also be the same as the Country Grouping. This is
required in the next step when defining the Creation Rules.

1.2.3 Organizational key: Control
1. At the Activity, select Creation Rules
2. Enter a Creation Rule which can be the same as the Country Grouping Key
3. Enter the Sequence Number to determine how the fields will be sequenced together to
make up the Organizational Key.
4. Choose the field(s) to be defaulted.
5. Enter the length of the fields. This can be seen on SE12 for the fields.
6. Click to SAVE.
TAKE NOTE: The last step is not really required, unless there is a requirement for validating the
Organizational Key.
