Introduction

ATTENTION: For the 2003.14 release, the installation has been broken up into
three separate installs which should be run in this order:
Third-party components (CD Vol 5)
EDM (CD Vol 5)
Drilling applications (CD Vol 6) and /or Production & Economics applications
(CD Vol 15)
Note that you will NOT be prompted to enter these CDs. Run the Third-part
Components insall first, from CD Vol 5. When it completes, insert CD Vol 5 and
run the EDM install. After it completes, insert either CD Vol 6 to install Drilling
applications, or CD Vol 15 to install Production and Economics applications.
For an outline of various insallation scenarios, see the hardcopy guide Planning
the EDT Installation, which is in the box. For complete installation details, see
the following online guides, which can be found in the \Products\EDT\Docs on
the installation CDs:
EDM Installation Guide (EDM_Install.pdf), EDT Drilling Installation Guide
(EDT_Drilling_Install.pdf), and EDT Production and Economics Insallation
Guide (EDT_PE_Install.pdf).

6. Install the 2003 LAM server (FLEXlm version 7.2e) and obtain
product licenses. See LAM 2003.0Windows Release Notes
(LAMReleaseNotes.pdf), located in the
Products\EDT\Install\LAM folder on CD 5, for details.
Prior to updating the 2003.11 database make sure the latest patch
(20011.5.0.4) has been applied. For information on the 2003.11.5.0.4 patch
contact Landmark Support.
Licensing
If you are using a FLEXlm dongle (bitlock), you must install
FLEXlm 7.2i on the standalone or client machine.
MSDE installation issues impacting PCs with SQL Server installed are
listed in MSDE Installation Issues on page 138 of this manual.
product dependencies
The Summary Level release notes do not detail all of the new features
or known problems for individual products; for this information,
consult the release notes of the individual products.
The Installation
Installation Types
For the Production and Economics applications, there is only one type
of installation available: Local (Standalone).
Local (Standalone)
This install is appropriate for Engineers needing to install the
Engineers Desktop locally on a PC or laptop to be used by one user.
The Local installation will copy the product software, database, and all
required support files to the designated directory on the PCs local hard
drive. For instructions on implementing the Local installation option
see The Local Installation on page 11.
4. Reboot.
Draft
This section describes the installation procedure for the Engineers
Desktop 2003.14 products in a standalone environment on a Windows
2000 system.
The Local installation will copy product software, MSDE database, and
all required support files to the designated install directory on the PCs
local hard drive.
This installation is not an upgrade from the 2003.11 Release. For more
information see Upgrading Release 2003.11 on page 3.
Both UNC paths for network locations and mapped driver letters are supported by
this installation. UNC paths pointing to local drives are not supported.
The Common Installer will first check the system for the following:
The next splash screen appears. From this splash screen you can:
Double-click vs Single-Click
If you get a Windows Installer window to pop up multiple times, you MUST
let it finish; please do not cancel any of them. Windows Installer is repairing
your registry, which might have gotten corrupted by previous installations.
Draft
4. Click Next.
Aborting Setup
At any time during the installation click Cancel to exit the InstallShield
Wizard.
Draft
When the Back button is selected the Destination Folder is not remembered
and will default back to C:\Landmark\EDT. Customized directories must be Draft
reentered.
If you do not see a checkbox for the application you are trying to install,
cancel the installation. Then, check your machine and uninstall the previous
version of that application. Once you have uninstalled the previous version,
re-run the installation. The checkbox for the application (and all of it's
subcomponents) will then appear in the Select Features window.
12. The hard disk space required for the components selected is
displayed under the selection area.
Or
If the LAM Server is located on another machine, select the LAM Draft
Client button to install FLEXlm client on this machine.
Note:
15. For a LAM Client install, the installation will attempt to detect the
location of the LAM Server; if one is found, then the path will be
displayed in the Destination Folder area. Verify that this is the
correct path. If it is not found, click Browse to navigate to the
location of the LAM directory. Your System Administrator
should know the location of the LAM Server install.
For a LAM Server install, use the default location found in the
Destination Folder, or click Browse to navigate to a different
destination folder where LAM Server is to be installed.
17. Specify the location in which Microsoft Office stores its template
files. By default this is C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Templates. If this is not correct, click Browse to navigate to
the location of the Template folder.

Some problems may occur with the R2003.14 installation on machines
that have had previous installations, crashes during installations, or
otherwise-corrupted machines.
Machine Cleanup
C:\Windows\Temp or C:\Winnt\Temp
C:\Temp
1. Highlight all files and directories under the Temp directory and
delete. Do not delete the TEMP folders themselvesjust delete
all files and folders under those Temp directories.
2. If the installation drive has been shared, remove the share prior to
running the Engineers Desktop installation.
6. Click OK.

The 1603 may occur at the beginning of the installation. This error is
related to the windows installer trying to update an older version of the
installer. To resolve this error use the procedure outlined below. Draft

and click the Finish button in Landmark Engineer's Desktop
2003.14 Setup window.
7. Remove the files and registry settings that make up the Windows

Oracle .NET 1.0 is already installed on the machine. If this error occurs
delete the Installation Registry Key for Oracle .NET 1.0 and restart the Draft
installation.
If you get the error 1603: Error installing Microsoft (R) .NET
