Introduction
General Description
The NEC Infrontia Aspire has capability to use Computer Telephony Integration (CTI.) It
uses the Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) 2.1 protocol. To allow CTI
an Ethernet interface is present on the NTCPU.
TAPI 2.1 based CTI realises third party call control features such as ACD, Predictive Dialing,
and Call Routing.
Requirements
Following are the minimum specifications required to use CTI (TAPI2.1) interface
feature.
Telephone System
IP1E-NTCPU
CTI Server PC
NOS: Windows NT Server 4.0 SP6a, Windows 2000 Server SP3, Windows 2003
Server
CPU: Pentium 500MHz or higher recommended
Memory: 256MB or more
Free Disk Space: 10GB or over
Network Card.
TCP/IP Network Protocol (Using a fixed IP Address)
NEC Aspire TSP (NEC Infrontia Aspire TAPI2.1 driver software)
The above are the specifications for TAPI set-up only. They may differ when you
install an application.
The server should include the appropriate number of Client Access Licenses
The backup procedure and virus defence is the responsibility of the customer.
CTI Client PC(Optional)
OS: Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP.
Network Card
TCP/IP Network protocol
The Ethernet Interface is on the NTCPU. This is a 10/100MB RJ45 Ethernet connection.

Requirements
The following basic commands must be set.

Installation
Double click on the setup.exe file. Click NEXT when you see the following Welcome screen.

At the Aspire Telephony Service Provider Setup screen select Server and click next.

Choose Destination Location screen appears allowing you to choose the destination folder where you
install the TAPI driver. Click Next to accept the default target folder. If necessary, click Browse to
choose a different drive or folder.

The Setup Address screen appears. Enter the IP address of the computer, the IP address for NTCPU in
PBX system, and the PBX port No. Use dot "." between numbers. The IP addresses, and port no.
must match the entry within the telephone system programming (Commands 10-12 and 10-20).
(e.g., TAPI: 192.168.1.76, PBX IP: 192.168.1.75, TCP Port: 8181) When you enter the information,
click Next. Note, this address should be given to you by the network administrator.

The time the TSP will wait for a response from the Aspire before deciding it will not respond. This
value should be left at the default value (10 Sec).

The Register for Service Setup screen appears. Select Register and click Next to begin the installation.

When copying files is complete, the following Setup Complete screen appears. Select Yes, I will restart
my computer . Select Finish.
Once the server has restarted. To verify that the TAPI driver installed correctly and is using the proper
settings double-click the Telephony icon from within the Control Panel (Start - Settings - Control
Panel).
Click on the Telephony Drivers tab to see that the Aspire TSP is installed.

Click on the Configure button to see the configuration of TAPI driver. On Configuration tab, you can
see the Server/PBX IP addresses, TCP port no. and the Display Call Status Dialog option you set
during installation. If necessary, change data.

Click on the Device tab to confirm the system extension ports' status. You can not change any
data on this screen.
By selecting a Device and clicking Detail the Call Mode can be set. Select the mode required. Auto
Speaker Mode if the extension has no headset or Auto Headset Mode if extension has headset.
To exit, click CANCEL then click OK until you have exited to the Control Panel. Double-click in the
upper left hand corner of the Control Panel to close the window.

Enabling TAPI Server and User Administration
To allow other PC users to use the TAPI services the TAPI server must be enabled. This is performed
by by the TCMSETUP command.
Enter the following command in the Run command line:
Tcmsetup /s [/n] domain\username [password]
Where /n is used if no password.
Click on OK or press enter.

Each client must be allocated the extensions are allowed to monitor/control. This is based on the
Microsoft Network logon and is configured using a Windows program called TCMAPP. This gives
domain user permissions to TAPI extensions. Without allocating extensions to a user in tcmapp, the
client computers will not be able to control or monitor there extension.
Enter the following command in the Run command line:
tcmapp
Click on OK or press enter.
TAPI Administration Application screen appears. From User menu, select Add a User to this
Telephony Server.

Select Change Selected User's Line Access from User menu (or by right-clicking). Select the TAPI line
devices that the user should have access to and click OK.

When you have finished, select Exit from File menu and close the TAPI Administration Application
screen.
When the following message appears, click Yes and save changes.

Upgrading the TAPI Driver
The upgrade of tsp requires a the existing TSP (n2iptsp.tsp) file to be replaced by the new TSP.
Double-click the Services icon from within the Control Panel (Start-Settings- Control Panel).

Select Stop.
Copy the file n2iptsp.tsp to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 (assuming C:\WINNT is the location of the OS).
You will be asked
if you are sure you want to replace, Click Yes. Restart the computer.

Uninstalling the TAPI Driver

When the Telephony Service stops, double-click Add/Remove Programs icon from Control Panel. In
Install/Uninstall tab, select AspireTSP, then click Add/Remove button.
When the following message appears on Setup Status screen, click OK button. Uninstallation of Aspire
TAPI driver is complete.

Installation

Enabling TAPI Server and User Administration
To allow other PC users to use the TAPI services the TAPI server must be enabled.
To do this click Start-Programs- Administrative Tools-Computer Management. Double click Services
and Applications and right click on Telephony. Select Properties.

In the Telephony Properties, tick the box which says Enable Telephony Server. Below in the user name
field, click the choose user button.
The Select User window will appear, from this list select the administrator account of the Windows
Domain. Click OK.

You will notice that the username will appear in the usename field. Enter the administrator
password below and click OK.

use this extension when you have finished selecting users click OK.

You will see the users you have selected. Click OK.
You will notice now that all the users you have selected will appear as the asssigned users for this
extension.

Upgrading the TAPI Driver

Click Find now to display all users. Selected required and click OK.

extension.

Upgrading the TAPI Driver
The upgrade of tsp requires a the existing TSP (n2iptsp.tsp) file to be replaced by the new TSP.
Right-click the Services icon from within the Control Panel (Start-Settings- Control Panel
Administrative Tools).
Select AspireTspStart Service and click Stop button.

Copy the new n2iptsp.tsp to C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32 (assuming C:\WINNT is the location of the OS).
You will be asked
if you are sure you want to replace, Click Yes. Restart the computer.

Uninstalling the TAPI Driver
Right-click the Services icon from within the Control Panel (Start-Settings- Control Panel
Administrative Tools). Select AspireTspStart Service and click Stop button.

When the Telephony Service stops, double-click Add/Remove Programs icon from Control Panel. In
Change or Remove Programs, select AspireTSP, then click Change/Remove button.

When the following message appears on Setup Status screen, click OK button. Uninstallation of Aspire
TAPI driver is complete.

Installing TAPI Clients

After executing the command, you will receive the following message. Click on OK.
The PC must logon to the Windows NT Domain. To check this, double click the network icon from
Control Panel. Select the Client for Microsoft Networks, then click Properties
Check to make sure that the Log on to Windows NT Domain box is ticked, and that a valid Domain
name is entered.
On configuration tab, click File and Print Sharing button. Mark I want to be able to give others access
to my files checkbox and click OK button.
Click on Access Control tab. Mark User-level access control checkbox, and enter the domain name to
which the CTI server belongs. Click OK button.
Restart the client computer and log in using the domain administrator account.
After executing the command, you will receive the following message. Click on OK.
