Howard: Hey guys. Today I will be teaching you how to play Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen
on the ukulele. Im sure many of you already know the song, and I want to teach you how to play
it today. So first, the basic strumming pattern is going to be a down-down-up-up, and for the
chords, there is going to be five main chords. The F chord is made by placing the index finger on
the first fret of the third string, and the middle finger on the second fret of the first string. *show

and just lift it, so its just going to be that one finger, the middle finger on the second fret of the
first string. *show close-up of fingering and strum* The C major chord is played by taking the
fourth finger and placing it on the third fret of the last string, like this. *show close-up of
fingering and strum* And the G major chord is going to be done by placing the second finger on
the second fret of the last string, the third finger on the second fret of the second string, and the
fourth finger on the third fret of the third string, like this. *show close-up of fingering and strum*
And the last chord, the E7 chord, were just going to use it once. Were going to take that second
finger and put it on the first fret of the first string, the third finger is going to go on the second
fret of the second string. Skip the third string, keep it open, and take the fourth finger, put it on
the second fret of the last string, like this. *show close-up of fingering and strum*
H: Those are the five chords we will use. So from the top, you are going to start with the C
H: Back to the G chord, and then were going to go to the C chord. Well it goes like this
H: Thats going to take us into the chorus. So the chorus is going to start with the F chord, so
just keep that finger there, and put your index finger down. Hallelujah
H: And then just repeat that process for the rest of the verses and chorus. I hope that was helpful,
thanks guys!
