As of 22 February 2017 Below are responses to questions that SSS officials and employees might

encounter when discussing the P1,000 additional benefit for pensioners as formally approved by
Malacaang today, February 22.

1. WHO ARE COVERED BY THE ADDITIONAL P1,000 BENEFIT?

All retiree, survivor and disability pensioners will receive the additional benefit.

2. WHEN CAN PENSIONERS EXPECT TO RECEIVE THE ADDITIONAL P1,000 BENEFIT?

The additional P1,000 benefit for January, February and March will be released on March 3, 10
and 17 respectively.
By April, pensioners will start to receive the updated amount of their monthly pensions.

3. WHY IS IT THAT THE ADDITIONAL BENEFIT WILL BE RELEASED ON THREE SEPARATE

DATES?
The SSS will do three program runs to ensure that all qualified pensioners will receive the
additional benefit. Since the P1,000 additional was approved in January and order was signed in
February, the SSS has to re-run the system to have the correct number of pensioners given that every
month, there are pensioners who die while there are also new pensioners added to the SSS database.

4. HOW MANY PENSIONERS ARE EXPECTED TO RECEIVE ADDITIONAL BENEFIT?

Around 2.2 million SSS pensioners are expected to receive the initial additional benefit
The number of pensioners is expected to increase with about 350,000 new pensioners ever year

5. WILL FUTURE PENSIONERS BE GIVEN THE P1,000 ADDITIONAL BENEFIT?

Yes. All future pensioners will have an additional P1,000 benefit on top of their computed pension.

WHEN WILL THEY RECEIVE THEIR ADJUSTMENT?

For those who availed the advance 18 months retirement lump sum, additional benefit will be paid
for the remaining number of months starting January 2017. The SSS will make a separate announcement
as to the specific date of the release.
