DRAWING ASSIGNMENT I

CE 2211 CIVIL ENGINEERING METHODS

Assignment: You are asked to plan an extension for Engineering Building-I at SLIIT. You require first to study
the existing Building to understand the architecture. You decided to make some sketches of the house.

We suggest you to make the following four sketches:

Front elevation of the building

Floor plan

A cross section of the building

A simple 3D-sketch (by hand) of the building volume

You intend to have some accurate measurements of the existing building so that the planning process will
be accurate.

Each and every student needs to make all the sketches in his/her note book and you need to submit your note
book at the end of the session.

The instructors will assign you different floors of building so that you can limit your sketch only for that
particular floor.

Marking Criteria for Engineering Drawing Assignment 1 (Sketching)

1 Front Elevation (With sufficient information, dimensions etc.) 4 marks

2 Plan view (With sufficient information, dimensions etc.) 4 marks
3 Cross section (With sufficient information, dimensions etc.) 4 marks
4 3D view (With sufficient information, dimensions etc.) 4 marks
5 Providing neat and tidy sketches 4 marks
Total 20 marks
