BAN ON SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 7

Please be advised that Samsung Galaxy Note 7


phones are no longer be allowed on our sites and
vessels, nor on any Allseas provided transport.

Note that airlines and helicopter companies may also


apply restrictions on the use of this phone, so please
leave it home.

The recall and exchange programme for


Galaxy Note 7 phones was announced by Samsung in
September 2016, following reports that some devices
caught on fire. A fire could pose a serious concern if
it occurs on board a ship, and in particular in an
unattended area / cabin, or during helicopter
transport.

If you have this type of phone with you on a vessel at the moment, please inform your Supervisor or the Safety
Officer. The phone will be quarantined. Allseas cannot take responsibility for it.

The ban on this phone model follows on an instruction given by Transport Malta (flagstate authority) to assess the
risk and lay down appropriate instructions for crew on Maltese registered ships.

ACTIONS
Post this Safety Flash Report on the notice boards and discuss in a Toolbox meeting.
P&O Vessels will inform oncoming crew of the ban in place, to ensure that it is not taken to the vessels.
