NARRATIVE REPORT

The premier medical center: Blood Donation Campaign last September 19, 2016
@Premier Lobby, this bloodletting program participated by the staff of TPMC, Olivarez
college nursing students, and some of the patients/patients relative who visited that day
with the sponsorship of Las Pias Doctors Hospital Blood Bank Department. The said
activity started around 9:00am and ended 3:00pm. On the first table it is where the
Olivarez College Nursing Student assigned, initial screening was done by taking the
name, age, weight, blood pressure, pulse rate and the names of the donors. Then, they
forwarded to the second table it is where the staff from Las Pias Doctors are assigned
donors are further screened and assessed. After they past the screening donors may
now precede to the last part where they can donate their blood.

This said activity has many benefits not only to the receiver, but also to the donor
because it helps in lowering risk of cancer. By donating blood the iron stores in the body
are maintained at healthy levels. And the reduction in iron levels in the body is linked
with low cancer risk; Health benefits of blood donation include reduced risk of
hemochromatosis. Hemochromatosis is a health condition that arises due to excess
absorption of iron by the body. This may be inherited or may be caused due
to alcoholism, anemia or other disorders. Regular blood donation may help in reducing
iron overload. Make sure that the donor meets the standard blood donation eligibility
criteria. And lastly, after donating blood, the body works to replenish the blood loss. This
stimulates the production of new blood cells and in turn helps in maintaining good
health.

The activity was very successful because of the active involvement of the TPMC
staff in different department, Olivarez College Nursing Students, the donors, and most
especially to the Las Pias Doctors Blood Bank Department
