Interview Report
An education is compulsory in everyone life because without it people do not have any
guideline or knowledge to be a great citizen. The education also needed for work which help
to do something benefit to every person which mean work and career are a vital and critical
part of our lives. Career can be defined as a pattern of work-related experiences that span the
course of a persons life. Career development is the lifelong process of managing progression
in learning and work. The quality of this process significantly determines the nature and
quality of individuals lives. It is also determines the social and economic contribution they
make to the communities and societies of which they a part.

I am surprised after seeing the question for this assignment that I need to interview a
person on his or her career and career development. I am feel kind of anxious and afraid that I
unable to do the interview properly due to my shyness. However to become a good and
profesional counsellor I have to overcome it. So, I make my mind to interview a person from
Kangar, Perlis in business or entrepreneurship area named as Mohamad Alif Ikhwan or known
just Mr. Alif. He is an executive marketing whose is just 20 years old. He is the first son
among three sibling with the ambition to be a successful businessman. His love toward
entrepreneurship maybe came from his parents whose does a food catering. Which is
surprised me is that he used to be a Unitar International University students.

His dream come trues when he success to work in Water Filter Coway & Cuckoo
Company that exist for 9 years in Malaysia. Coway founder is Mr.Wallace Lim assisted by his
Head Manager Miss Aslina Wati, Head Manager Hisham Bakri, Mrs. Sherry, Mr. Ho, and
Mrs. Jennifer. Thats among the main Coway administration in Malaysia. Coway already
spreading from Perlis until Sabah and Sarawak. Even though he face some problem such as
family problem and money he able to overcome it with his family and friends help..Beside
that he face a few problem during selling his company product with the customer that treat
him poorly which make him feel sad and little bit disappointed because he want to help
everyone to keep healthy everyday. I did not forgot to ask what his duty as executive
marketing, he describe that he responsible to promoting and selling the product during
roadshow and from door to door. He will not forget to meet with his company product user to
keep on updated to new water filter product that produce hot and cold water contain alkaline
and RO water. He said that to work in Coway it need 5 pass subject to be as a dealer and
diploma or bachelor to be as executive marketing. At the end of my interview, I asked him to
give a piece of advice to students and community. He said that we have to learn hard if we
dont have any information for particular thing then he added when we already master some
skill we should benefitly used it properly.

After revise back what I got from the interview with Mr. Alif remind me of Hollands
theory of personality tyoes. Mr. Alif situations can be related more to enterprising modal
personality types because Mr. Alif ambition and interest for business was affected by his
parents which selling and does food catering. This make Mr. Alif had communication skill to
interact and persuade other people to listen then buying his selling. This highlight Holands
theory that individuals choose situations and environments that satisfy their personality
orientation. The focus of Holland theory, why career choice occurs and the outcome of that
choice, rather than on how or why personality orientations develop. Holland beliecve that
personal interests are a manifestation of ones personality and ones personality leads one seek
satisfaction in work that fits in. From one of the journal about Holland theory that I found said
that It is interesting to note that the correspondence indices for the North West groups were
lower than those of the Eastern Cape groups. This seems counterintuitive, because the fit of
the North West group was better than that of the Eastern Cape group in a statistical sense.
This mean Hollands theory only available and relevence toward most of people. However,
interest and situations affects person choice of careers can be prove in another journal which
is said that the structure of interests was investigated using a set of occupations representing
approximately 85% of the US labor market. To date, almost all studies of vocational interest
structure have focused on existing interest inventories. These measures often reflect the
characteristics of the six Holland RIASEC types, because that is
what they are designed to measure, and perhaps it is not surprising that the structural
hypothesis of Hollands model is supported by analyses of these inventories.

In conclusion, Mr. Alif is determined by his parents to join in entrepreneurship area

even though he will face lot of barrier later but he will not give up and keep on going forward.
From this interview make believe that situation, interest, and ambition of someone are
affected by other peoples interest. Special cases to Mr. Alif because he was influenced by
close people to his and thats was his family. This statements make me also want to say that
people should better regret cause fail in trying then regret without do anything. I believe that
knowledge and experience is important to success in our career however without passion and
love toward what we do, we will never get satisfied or feel happy with our job. Some
employers won't even require you to have a degree. This can be an eye-opener to anyone
who's spent four-plus years earning a degree, but again, employers look for experience and
trainability. And while having a college degree does display your ability to be taught, it's not
the only path to a professional career.
