Gable Roofs
There are many different types of roof and our group decided to choose Gable roof. Gable roof is
a type of roof that has two sloping sides and a gable at each end.

Gable roofs are designed in a way
that allows them to easily shed water and
snow.
They provide more space for an
attic or vaulted ceilings and allow more
ventilation.
Their simple design make it easy
to build them and cheaper than other
designs that are complex.
The steep pitch of the roof allows
for great water drainage and helps
prevent leaks.
Gable roofs are not suited in high
wind and hurricane areas.
If the frames are not properly
constructed with adequate supports, there
will be a possibility that the roof can
collapse, which makes them unsuitable for
windy and hurricane areas.
High winds can also cause
materials to peel away from gable roofs
overtime.
If there is too much of an
overhang,in worse cases winds can
create an uplift underneath and cause the
roof to detach from the walls.

This type of roof is mainly used houses in places like the U.S. The seasonal and weather
changes justify having a dormer roof since they provide excellent support in the winter. Due to its
structure it can easily shed snow during the winter, or rain during other seasons. Its suitable in
the spring and summer since it allows more ventilation.
Gable roofs can be made with materials such as asphalt shingles, cedar shakes, Terra
Cotta, metal, and clay or concrete tiles.
