Researching Background Information on Australian Poet, Judith Wright

Objective: Identify, research, and present pertinent information about Judith Wrights life, to
include information about upbringing, political beliefs, the plight of the Aborigines, and
environmental concerns in Australia.

Procedures:
1. Students will read biographical information about Judith Wright and identity topics
that she values.
2. Students, and teachers, will identify important background information for the
class to research.
3. In groups, students will research the following topics:
a. Biography of Judith Wright
b. Basic History of Australia
c. Politics of Australia and Judith Wright
d. The Plight of the Aborigines
e. Environmental Concerns of Australia
4. In groups, students will present their findings to the class.
5. Poems will be read that relate to these topics; these themes will be explored in
more detail as the study of the poetry progresses.

Assessment:
The class-produced Google Slide presentation will be referenced and graded.
