The Position: The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a
Service Coordinator who will be a member of Housing, Catering and Conference Services
team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
General: The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) works to improve food
and nutritional security and reduce poverty in developing countries through research for
efficient, safe and sustainable use of livestock. It is the only one of 15 CGIAR research
centres dedicated entirely to animal agriculture research for the developing world.
Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, it has regional or country offices and projects in East,
South and Southeast Asia as well as Central, East, Southern and West Africa.

Job Purpose:
The Service Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of service is
provided at the cafeteria, housing, conference services and zebu club at all current and
future food outlets and events including meetings, banquets and special events. Ultimately
responsible for the restaurant or banquet facility and the customers experience.
Main Duties:
Responsible for delivering the highest levels of customer service at all food,
conferencing and event outlets;
Executes all banquet and event orders per the instruction of the reservation
coordinator.
Solicits verbal and written feedback from customers at all event and food outlets,
and takes action on feedback or provides feedback to the HCC manager for areas
not in his/her control;
Follows up daily with the executive chef n presentation, quality and quantity provided
to ensure the guest expectations are met. Provides suggestions to the executive
chef on the menu items and beverage selection based on customer feedback;
Participates in the business planning for the cafeteria, banquet and Zebu Club;
Supervises and trains shift supervisors to ensure they are implementing the same
standard of friendly customer-driven services. Ensures shift supervisors interact
with customers during their shift, and tis available to listen to and take action on
customer complaints;
Ensures that shift supervisors, bar/waiting persons and waiting persons treat all
customers equally with friendliness, dignity and respect without discrimination
regardless of race, ethnicity, culture, language, socio-economic status, membership
status, employment, rank, new comer versus long-term etc.;
Ensures full adherence to ILRI policies and procedures and operating legalities;
Implements high level of general hygiene throughout area of responsibility ensuring
that the correct systems are followed to deliver a safe working environment and
make sure all team members are trained in food hygiene and follow good hygiene
practices at all times in line with the institutes policy;
Ensures all team members are continuously trained in customer service as per the
service standard. Ensures all new staff and temporary staff are fully trained before
beginning their service;
Ensures risk management systems are in places in the unit and that all have been
trained in all aspects of firefighting, safety and security; ensures that the facilities
for all food outlets and event facilities are well maintained and are professionally
presented each day. Follows up on maintenance requests and ensures that the
area is in proper order / cleared of debris and unused furniture/equipment at all
times;
Determines required staffing levels for each event/service, and plans in advance.
Manages relationship, training and motivation of staff;
Provides monthly reports on the banquet function, Cafeteria and Zebu Club
performance every month. Uses the system effectively for the daily charge;
Maintains the inventory of banquet and service equipment for both Cafeteria and
Zebu Club;
Schedules and manages an appropriate shift system for the shift supervisors, bar/
waiting persons, and waiting persons;
Monitors the manning on the service area and functions. Interacts with customers
to ensure positive customer experience;
Accountable for complying with proper control systems of the cashier and food/
beverage sales;
Monitors the food and beverage sales to ensure proper control and accountability;
Responsible for the upkeep of all equipment and function rooms to the standards
and the Health & Safety polices;
Responds promptly to health and safety audits/recommendations;
Coordinates outside service providers used for the function.
People management
Communicates required information to relevant parties on a timely basis;
Conducts weekly one on one meetings with the team members to provide
encouragement and critical feedback;
Delegates authority to shift supervisors to respond to customer complaints as they
see fit (to replace, change or comp an order);

Manages the training and development process within own area of the business;
Liaises and coordinates with clients, front office, engineering & facilities management,
housekeeping, catering and conference assistant to ensure relevant information is
provided to the supervisors on a timely basis per the event order;
Attends relevant banquet and food & beverage meetings and liaises with the
reservation and events coordinator on a daily basis to review functions. Provides
customer feedback to the executive chef through the housing, catering and conference
Services Manager.
Customer Experience
Carries out quarterly surveys with in and comparable market to ensure that products and
prices are always in line with our the competitive set and the customers expectations;
Follows up on the customer feedback which will be collected through guest service
questionnaires experience and ensuring that all comments are shared with the team
and that positive comments are celebrated and negative feedbacks are analysed and
addressed;
Be flexible to business demands, ensuring that there is always awareness of the peak
areas of the business and any assistance that is needed within the Food & Beverage
section;
Interacts with internal and external guests;
Attends relevant banquet and food & beverage meetings and liaises with the reservation
and events coordinator on a daily basis to review functions. Customer feedback to the
executive chef through the HCC manager;
Performs any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Academic and professional qualifications:
Education:
First degree in Restaurant or Hotel Management or related field from a recognized
Institute.
City Government of Addis Ababa Occupational Competency Assessment and
Certification centre (OCACC) on food and beverage service or hotel operation
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in related field in an international standard
restaurant or hotel or institution.
At least three years supervisory experience
Skills:
Proficiency in written and spoken English
Customer service skill. Ability to interact with customers in a friendly way.
Quality control skill
Organizational skill
Problem solving skill
Proven ability to supervise a team
Reporting and record keeping skill
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Grade: 2D
Minimum Base Salary: Birr 21,367 (Negotiable depending on experience, skill and salary
history of the candidate)
Terms of appointment: This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position, initial
appointment is for three years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual
performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration package for nationally

Station 19+500 to 22+500. The road is DS4 with Asphalt Concrete

Purpose and Description
Based full-time in the NASTAD Ethiopia Central Office in Addis Ababa, this
contract position works with the Senior Specialist to assist Federal Ministry

to identify contacts of patients diagnosed with HIV and STI (sexually
transmitted infections) and escorts contacts for HIV and STI testing and

HIV and STI patients to obtain the names and contact information of their
sexual partner(s) and then conduct contact tracing to inform partner(s) of

directly to the NASTAD Ethiopia Senior Specialist, as designated by the
Country Director.
Essential Functions
Along with the Senior Specialist, organize Partner Services (PS)
trainings (initial and refresher) to DIS and other index case testing
partners.
Closely work with RHBs and health facility focal persons to facilitate
the implementation of PS in the selected facilities.
Participates in developing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to
guide the implementation of PS, including all necessary logistical
and material support, like formats and guidelines.
Provide technical support to DIS, health workers, health facility
supervisors, and index case testing partners through supportive
supervision and one-on-one discussions.
In consultations with the Senior Specialist and RHBs, organize
performance monitoring and review meetings, compile proceedings
of the meetings, and prepare summary reports.
Monitor implementation of PS and work with RHBs to assure quality
of services provided by DIS.
Collect program process and outcomes measurements, at baseline,
midline, and endpoint, based on program objectives; maintain record
of measures and prepare and present findings.
Maintain regular communication with Senior Specialist.

Abt Associatesseeks qualified candidates for the new, USAID-funded TRANSFORM/
Primary Health Care (PHC) Project in Ethiopia. The project seeks to improve healthcare
outcomes to End Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths (EPCMD), which in turn
support Government of Ethiopias efforts within the Health Sector Transformation Plan
(HSTP). TRANSFORM/PHC will operate in the four most populous regions of Ethiopia

service delivery; improved management and performance of health systems; and
implementation of innovative and evidence-based social behavioral change and
communication interventions. TRANSFORM/PHC will strengthen the capacity of the
health system to effectively use management tools and implement best practices at
all levels of the health system and health care delivery with a major focus at the
PHC that includes primary hospitals and PHC units. Abt Associates, which is part of
a consortium led by Pathfinder International, provides technical support for health
financing and governance under the project.
