Peer relationship

a. Hook brief intro: Do you want to know what kind of peer you are in your
classmates point of view? Do you think your peers know you well? Today, we
have a pre assessment that would let you know that.

c. What is peer relationship (+Hook: Bee)
i. Definition
-What is a peer?
A peer is an individual who is of equal standing with another and who
belongs to a specific societal group, sharing distinct characteristics with
this group.
-Peer are the people amongst you, but friends are the ones you care
about and have a friendship bond with.
-So peer relationship is a relations between equal standing members of
the societal group
ii. Importance of peer relationship
- Early problems with peers have negative consequences for the
childs later social and emotional development.
-play a major role in adolescence
-Conversely, early friendships and positive relations with peer
groups appear to protect children against later psychological problems.

d. Characteristic of a good peer relationship -> become friend (Kim)


(1) Having common interests, likes, or hobbies
(2) Feeling comfortable with sharing private thoughts, feelings, or stories
(3) Understanding each other
(4) Conflict resolution, anger control
o Ex: Being able to solve arguments and problems without hurting the
relationship
(5) Being affectionate or caring
(6) Equality in the relationship
o Ex: A shared friendship where all members are treated the same;
everyone is treated fairly
(7) Being loyal and trustworthy
o Ex: Keeping your word in the relationship; actually doing what you say
you will
o Ex: Keeping secrets in the relationship
o Ex: Stay with you when you have a difficult time
