The Grades and Attendance workbook has been very popular among the visitors at this website. I created
the grade book for my own use after creating many others that proved to be either over done or under done.
Because of the many requests for the password, most of this workbook is no longer password protected. It
was originally protected because it is very easy to delete the coding that makes this workbook work thus
rendering the grade book useless unless repaired. Please don't ask me to repair your grade book if you
mess it up. So please be very careful with the grade book if you decide to unprotect the individual pages. I
recommend protecting the sheets again once you have made the necessary changes that you need to
make. This file was updated to include two more subjects, 6 more rows to make 36 weeks, optional high
school credits, optional qp, and optional gpa and it was updated to include a weighted grade column.
02/27/2007 changes: Numeric type for entering grades altered. Added a weight warning. Added current
totals disconnected from weights.

Fill in the white spaces on the Information page. The information entered will be carried over to the other
parts of this grade book. If you need to make a change somewhere in this workbook, choose Tools >
Protection > Unprotect Sheet. Sample grades and attendance have been added to grade book. When you
begin to use the grade book, delete all sample data. You can delete any subject cells that you do not need to
use without harming the grade book. Adding more is more complex, but it is possible to do.
Attendance:
Go to the Calendar page of the workbook. Follow instructions there. Do not try to write on the blocks with
the dates. Those blocks contain the code that makes the calendar work. The Attendance page and the
Information page will show the output from the Calendar.
Entering Grades:
Go to one of the numerical pages (ex: 1, 2 ,3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) in the workbook. Each of the numerical pages
will be for the subject which you specified on the Information page. Add the grades which are associated
with that subject on that numerical page.. (Math grades on the Math page). The grade average will display
on the bottom of the numerical pages and on the Information page. Do not try to put the grades into the
Information page.
Grades MUST be entered in any of these forms: as a percentage: ex. 100%; as a decimal: 1.0; and as a
fraction: 20/20.
Do NOT enter a number higher than 1. 1 =100 in this grade keeper.
Weighted Grades:
This is something I find necessary so I included it in this workbook. Weighing the grades gives more
importance to some grades than others. Test scores typically have a much higher importance than daily
work scores. You can change the grade weight by changing the RED grade weights to something else. The
two of them MUST equal 100.
If you do not want to use the weighted grades.. change daily to 100 and tests to 0 and place one number,
any number, in the test column.
Print-Attendance:
The attendance counter on the Print sheet is coded to a standard 5-month first semester and a 5-month
second semester. The code is linked to the Attendance sheet. If you school year-round, then this will not
work for you and you will need to change the code.
Code for a 6-month 1st semester.. On the Print sheet, enter this code in cell: D25
=SUM(Attendance!C4:C9)
Code for the remaining 6-months of the calendar year.. On the Print sheet, enter this code in cell: E25
=IF(SUM(Attendance!C10:C15)=0,"",SUM(Attendance!C10:C15))

What you see above is one example of a grade scale. It is the one which I use. If this
grade scale does not match your grade scale, change the numbers.
The Average Numbers are not protected!
!!
You can adjust the numbers to suit your grade scale and your quality points scale.
Read more about that in the yellow shaded areas on the right.

Scale 1 You may change the numbers in the rows named Average. The number in
QP
QP There is No Need to change the Letters
QP
The rows marked as QP are the Quality Points rows. You should fill
those in if I haven't, or change what I have if the numbers are not quite rig
The scale in row marked GPA is classic, those should be right.
Scale 2 The AP and Honors scale decrease by a margin of 0.33 between A and C
QP then between C and D- the decrease increases in size.
QP Final Comment: The QP scales are 'close'; it is possible they are close e
QP or correct, and if they are not, change them.
Do not alter the QP in the dark yellow cells in Scale 2.
If you change the QP numbers, then want to go back to these, select the row/row
and paste them into the tables above.
Don't try to change the row names [the green areas] those should not be change
Only copy and paste the yellow areas.
