The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the largest country on the Arabian Peninsula. Its surface area is around
215 milion km2. It is located in the Middle East, southwest Asia. The Kingdom has a hot dry desert
climate. It sometimes rains in winter, but the temperature remains almost the same.
The capital city of Saudi Arabia is Riyadh. It is the biggest city in the Kingdom and less than one third
of the population lives there. There are also other big cities in Saudi Arabia, like Jeddah and Dammam.
Jeddah is also known as the commercial city of the Kingdom.
The population of Saudi Arabia reaches 28,000,000 inhabitants. Many foreigners live and work in the
Kingdom. There are also a number of students that study there. The official language is Arabic. Many
people speak English, too.
The main official religion is Islam and almost all Saudis are Muslims. Some foreigners have other
religions, but their number is insignificant.
Kabsah is the most popular food in Saudi Arabia. It is a combination of rice and chicken or meat. Al-
Baik is also very popular.
Oil is the major industry in the Kingdom and the most important one. Saudi Arabia has the second
largest oil reserves in the world. There are also other industries operating over there, like date
production and so on.
The currency of the country is the riyal. One Saudi Riyal is equal to 0,27 U.S.D.
