1st Venerable Ignacia Film Festival

Who can participate?


The 1st Venerable Ignacia Film Festival is open to student-film makers and multi-media artists
from different programs. Programs must submit 1 entry for the competition.

Theme
The film festivals theme is Friendship with a title, Kaibigan, Kapuso, Kapamilya: Sanndigan
ang Isat Isa. A young hearts life is commonly evolved with friends. As the saying goes, tell me who
your friends are, and I will tell you who you are. Friends are the ones who will help create ones
character.
Entries should showcase how friendship and core values contribute to attain success. The
entries should be people/student-centered. It has been an issue that friends influence to each other
will create or break the future of the child. The short film should present how friendship is beneficial to
the child for it to be successful in life.

Qualified genres
Open to short films which havent been commercially produced and viewed and must be
made by a combination of SRCB students and faculty of the same program only.

Running time limit


The running time shall not be less than 20 minutes and not exceed 35 minutes. This will be
strictly observed. Any violation will be subjected to deduction of points. Every minute that exceeds will
be one point deduction.

Film Showing
The entry will be available for viewing in the AVR. A 5-peso fee will be needed for entrants and
the funds will be submitted at the cashiers office. 20% of the collected money will be given to the
Cashiers office as payment for the electricity usage and 80% of the funds will be used for trophies,
certificates and tokens.

The judges will select the nominees and winners for the following categories:
1 Grand Venerable Ignacia Film Award (Grand Prize)

Special Awards:
Best Cinematography
Best Editing
Best Script

Minor Awards:
Best Actor
Best Actress
Best Supporting Actor
Best Supporting Actress
Best Director
Best Picture
Blockbuster Film
*The Judging Committee, at its discretion, may present special awards to deserving films which do
not qualify in any of the categories listed above.
Judging Mechanics
Entries will be checked for completeness of technical requirements (e.g. total running time,
credits, photographs, entry forms, etc.).
The entry with the highest score will be the grand prize winner. All decisions made by the
Board are final and irrevocable. The organizers and the judging committee are not obliged to give
explanation of the results.

Criteria

Content-50%

This involves the main concept, the storyline and the message of the film maker. The concept must
be able to include the essence of the Film Festival. This includes how the film makers played on the
effects of friendship in their film entries. This includes the way the message is presented and how the
film maker maximizes the potential of film to convey the message.

Technicalities- 20%

Since the entries will be used as a medium for advocacy, education and training, the over-all technical
elements particularly the dialogue, sounds, lighting, editing etc. are crucial to make the medium
effective.

Over-all Impact- 30%

This involves how the different elements stated above complement each other. This gives credit to the
ability of the film maker to knit together various elements of the content and concepts of the film into
one effective entity.

*The top three finalists of each genre will be subjected to another judging for the Grand Prize

Criteria for the Grand Prize


1. Content-50%
2. Over-all Impact-50%

Entry requirements
The following should be submitted in a short brown envelope labeled in the black side with the
following format:

NAME OF PROGRAM
TITLE OF FILM ENTRY

1. Film entry in DVD playable format and AVI format (in 2 separate DVD copies)
2. Hard copy of Entry Synopsis. Print in an 11x8.5 inch (short) bond paper
3. Hard copy of at least 4 film stills (size: at least 4x5 inches, clear and high-quality)
4. A separate DVD/VCD containing the following:
o Soft copy of Official Entry Poster in JPEG format (size: 11x17 inches, at least 300 pixels/inch)
o Soft copy of Entry Synopsis
o Soft copy of at least 4 film stills in JPEG format (size: 8x10 inches, at least 300 pixels/inch)
o Soft copy of photo of entire production crew in JPEG format (size 8x10 inches, at least 300
pixels/inch)
o Soft copy of close-up shots of official representative and alternate in JPEG format
5. Film entry should be in a regular 5x5 inch CD case with slip-on cover containing the following
format:
o Title of entry, running time
o Name of program

Start of submission
Trailers and posters will be submitted on September 9, 2016 at the Student Affairs Office. The
organizers will accept entries starting on August 29, 2016, Mondays to Fridays, from 9 am to 5 pm.

Entry fees
There is NO application fee required to join the contest.

Deadlines- All entries must be received on or before September 9, 2016, 5pm at DSAO

Rights
Violation of copyright laws and plagiarism are not allowed.
By submitting your work in the festival, you are giving the organizers the right to screen your
works in all our festival venues and promotions; to distribute them in soft copies to any place in the
country and possibly abroad for education and advocacy purposes; and to print all film-related photos
for festival promotions. Rest assured, all acknowledgements will remain attributed to the source. The
above will hold true even after the film festival, as the films might be toured and shown in different
schools, institutions, barangays etc. all over the country. Furthermore, the films will be distributed to
our Media Center for education, advocacy and training purposes.
All entrants must certify that they possess all rights pertaining to their submitted works and
exempt the organizers from third party claims.

Group Representation

Since the entry is submitted by a group, the participating team must select an official
representative and an alternate. The official representative will be the main contact of the organizers
and will be required to attend the awarding ceremonies to be able to get the teams prizes. Failure to
attend the said event will forfeit the teams winnings.

NOTE:
The organizers shall not be held responsible for any tribulations arising from controversies on the
sharing of awards among members of the group.

Subtitles
All entries with dialogue other than English and Tagalog should be subtitled in English or Tagalog,
otherwise, it will not be qualified for preliminary screening
