AN ORDINANCE SUSPENDING EFFECTIVE

5 SEPTEMBER 25 1967 THE CITY OF OAKLAND
TAX IMPOSED ON CIGARETTES BY ORDINANCE
NO 7381 C M S AS AMENDED

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of

Oakland as follows

SECTION 1 In order to comply with the require

ments of those provisions of Chapter 963 of the Statutes
of 1967 which provide that State cigarette tax revenues
may not be allocated to any city imposing a selective
local tax on or with respect to the sale distribution
of cigarettes or any other
use consumption or holding
tobacco product after October 1 1967 the City of
Oakland tax on by
cigarettes imposed the provisions of
Ordinance No 7381 C M S effective on July 1 1966
Article 22 of the Oakland Municipal Code shall be and
become suspended inoperative on and after September 25
and
1967 and shall not be imposed thereafter upon cigarettes
or their distribution unless and until appropriate action
is taken by the City Council to revive said tax and
render the same again operative and in full force and
effect Nothing in this ordinance shall be construed
as relieving any person of the obligation to pay the City

of Oakland any tax accrued or owing by reason of the
