Kingdom Hearts is a story spanning many games, not necessarily in order of release.

Like

many other games this series creates a timeline of which the games take place in the over arcing

storyline. The addition of Birth by Sleep, released January 2010, gave the game a confusing twist

with the positioning of it in the storys timeline. Would it take place before or after the events of

Kingdom Hearts 1 or 2? The game is actually the prequel of the first chapter of Kingdom Hearts,

it sets out to give the background information of why Sora, a main character in Kingdom Hearts

1, sets out on his mission in the first entry in the series.

In the games there are key-sword wielding characters that go by the name Keyblade

wielders. Some wield their swords for the good and the protection of the people in the worlds of

the Disney franchise; others set out to cause discord in the worlds, a classic good against evil

story. The preface of the game franchise is the Kingdom Hearts, a source that keeps the universe

from going into extreme chaos. Long time before the Story of Birth by Sleep there was a war in

which the ultimate Keyblade was forged called the chi-blade; chi (pronounced kye represented

by the greek letter ). The -blade was the ultimate weapon that could be wielded, but the

creation of may Keyblades caused chaos in the universe which would ultimately lead to the

destruction of the universe.

This entry in the Kingdom Hearts series shows us the perspectives of the three new

interconnected characters: Ventus, Aqua, and Terra. The main antagonist of the games is a

keyblade master by the name of Master Xehanort who strives to pin the three protagonists in

order to create the -blade. There are minor antagonists such as: Venitas, the unversed, and the

villains of the disney universe. The story takes you across the disney universe as the each

protagonist has their own task in mind. Aqua and Terra are to defeat the inversed and try to find

master Xehanort. Ventus was convinced by Venitas to go after Terra against the wishes of master
Eraqus. Aqua was also entrusted to go find Ventus and return him to the Land of Departure. The

story can be played through the perspective of each of the three characters as the storyline

continues and how they each affect the others point of view. And as the game progresses, the

events of the story puts the main characters together.
