Location / hospital*: Toronto, ON/ Runnymede Healthcare Centre

Positive aspects of session: Students was able to use their clinical experience in the discussion about

common management and insertion of Foley catheterization. There are learners who showed some

engagement on the topic, and provided exemplar critical thinking to every given patient scenario.

Difficulties of session: This teaching session was not plan, as it was just brought up in the staff meeting.

space and time was a big issue the facilitator did not know where to run this session, further making it

hard to coordinate with the staff on when will the teaching session will be.

Reflection and interpretation of session (analysis): Part of being a teacher is to be flexible with any kind of

situation. Teaching can happen anywhere it is a matter of when will be the good time for the learner

grasp the information. Especially with professional learners sometimes they wont have time to attend

such in in-services due to their busy schedules.

Consideration of future strategies for managing similar sessions: Planning is the number one thing that an

educator should consider. Though sometimes, we will not have enough time to plan ahead to do an

educational in-service, it is important that we do it not just because we supposed to do it. Educator

should be knowledgeable enough with any given topic within their line of professional career.
