APEX INFO SHEET FOR STUDENTS

What is APEX and how can it help BCS students?
APEX is an online curriculum purchased by the Brooklyn Center School District to
help students complete credit requirements towards graduation. In most cases, you as
a student will have to complete certain electives or required classes that may not fit into
your schedule. If there is a scheduling conflict, APEX is the best way to make sure you
get a class you still need for graduation. APEX credit recovery will take place Monday
through Thursday in Ms. Marns room. The work is real and it requires serious effort but
we have had several students make up credits and graduate on time by working on
APEX.

Directions for Completing Work & Receiving Course Credit in Apex
1. Open your chromebook and sign-in to Google Chrome with the following info
(your regular student sign-in will not allow you to use APEX):
User: apexbca@brookcntr.k12.mn.us
Password: apextesting

2. Once Chrome opens, go to www.apexvs.com. Once there, login using the
following:
Your username: jbrownapex
Password: date7380
New Password ______________

3. Once you have logged in, review the class or classes that you have been
assigned. Complete the guided tour if you have never used APEX before.

4. All classes have assignments that go along with the online lessons. You are
required to complete any study sheets and reading guides associated with a
class. You are not required to do journals, discussion assignments, or lab
assignments. Practice assignments are assigned at the instructors discretion.

5. Complete all study guides and reading guides in your assigned course. A quiz or
test can only be opened when all required study guides and reading guides
before the quiz or test have been completed.

6. Bring your completed study guides and reading guides to your APEX teacher.
Your teacher will need to a few minutes to review the content of your
worksheets. If the worksheets are not fully completed in a satisfactory manner,
you will be required to redo or complete your assignments.

7. If your worksheets are completed in a satisfactory manner, your teacher will
unlock your quiz or test.

8. Take the quiz using your own notes. Using someone elses notes is strictly
prohibited. NEVER use a non-APEX website while taking a test. Failing
to follow proper quiz/test taking protocol, this is considered cheating and you will
receive a 0 on that exam. Continuing to do so will result in a loss of computer
privileges and being removed from an Apex course.

9. If you have previously taken a quiz or test and failed 3 times, you may
need to review your notes with your teacher prior to having another quiz or test
unlocked. Your teacher will likely look over your notes and have you review and
redo areas that are either incorrect or incomplete.

10. When you have completed your final exam or test for the class, speak to your
teacher about completing the form for you to have your credit posted to your
transcript AND submit all of your completed notes as final proof of class
completion. You will now receive a new class.
