A popular camping spot in the wine country, Bothe-Napa Valley State Park has 50 campsites, 10-plus miles of
hiking trails and a swimming pool, which is open in the summer. Bothe is a beautiful place to visit, camp and
enjoy the natural beauty of this unique area. As with all natural settings, it is important that the visitor be
aware of the natural flora and fauna that live in the area.

ATTENTION! Poison oak is found
in nearly all areas of the park.
Remember, “Leaves of three, let them
be!” The western black-legged tick,
which has been known to carry Lyme
disease, occurs in the park and is especially
active in the late winter to early summer. Also,
please beware of yellowjacket bees. Check
bulletin boards near restrooms or with staff for
more information.
THE VISITOR CENTER, open on weekends, has
displays, brochures, etc. Brochures and hiking
maps are also available at the entrance station,
which is staffed during peak season.
QUIET HOURS are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Generators may be operated from 10 a.m. to
8 p.m. To ensure an enjoyable experience for
everyone, please do not disturb other campers.
Radios and other sound-producing devices must
not be audible beyond your immediate campsite,
regardless of the time of day or night.
CHECKOUT of your campsite by noon.
DOGS are restricted to the camp and picnic areas
and must leashed. They are not permitted on the
trails or in the pool area. Dogs may not be left
unattended and must be inside a vehicle or tent at
night.
FIREWOOD is available for purchase or you may
bring your own. Please do not collect dead or down
wood, as it is an essential part of the park’s natural
ecosystem. Also, ground fires are not permitted.
THE SWIMMING POOL opens Memorial Day
weekend. It is open only on weekends until school
is out in mid-June, then daily through Labor Day,
from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $3 for adults, $1

for children 6-17, children 5 and under are free.
Tickets must be purchased at the entrance station.
A NATIVE AMERICAN PLANT GARDEN is
located next to the visitor center; a self-guiding
pamphlet is available for sale.
FISHING is not permitted in the park in order to
protect the limited natural resources.
CAMPING RESERVATIONS may be made up
to seven months and no less than 48 hours in
advance by calling 800-444-7275 (TTY 800-
274-7275) for dates between March 15 and
October 31. Reservations may be charged to
your VISA©, Discover© or Mastercard©. To make
online reservations, visit our website at www.
parks.ca.gov. During the off season, campsites
are available first-come, first-served.
NEARBY STATE PARKS:
Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park. Bothe’s
1-mile “History Trail” in the south end of the park
connects to Bale Grist Mill SHP. The park grounds
are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Tours and
demonstrations on weekends show the historic
process of milling grain. Freshly-milled flour and
cornmeal are available for purchase.
Robert Louis Stevenson State Park. Visit an
undeveloped state park, 12 miles to the north
on Hwy. 29, with spectacular views from Mt. St.
Helena. Experience the 10-mile roundtrip hike to
the 4343-foot North Peak or hike the Palisades
Trail (10 miles one way into Calistoga) passing
below scenic volcanic cliffs. Always be prepared for
extreme weather conditions. Carry plenty of water
and a map, and wear appropriate clothing and
footwear. The park is open daily from sunrise to
sunset for day use only.
