This document has been created as a guide for commenting the revised draft of NORSOK M-122 Cast Structural steel
(DRAFT Edition 2, 2012)
as part of the effort to review and update this standard. The goal of this hearing is to gather and organize the known
shortcomings and errors of the current revision before it is updated and rewritten.

The following main changes are intended to take place for the revision of NORSOK M-122:
Evaluate the need for adjusting the scope of the standard.
Check the interfaces with NORSOK M-122 and other relevant standards.
Make sure that the requirements for cast structural steel is clarified by this standard.
Replace technical requirements with functional ones, wherever possible.
Update to reflect todays operations and expectations.

The objectives of the NORSOK standards include

Ensuring that the petroleum activities are cost effective and profitable.
Enforcing predictable technical requirements.
Leaving detailed solutions and specifications to suppliers and manufacturers.

Please keep this in mind when reviewing and commenting the current revision.
