I. Narrative Report

In our subject, Field Study 2, we are instructed to observe the Junior High
School of Arellano University Elisa Esguerra Campus. We asked the permission of
the principal Ms. Mudlong and we are assigned to different year level at a certain
period of time.

First, I observed the class of grade 7 with six sections, under Ms. Domagsang.
We go from one room to another. The teacher provides the lesson print out for the
day and post it on the board. The students will copy and answer the assessment
after the teacher discussed the lesson. Then, the students will pass the concept
notes and the teacher will check and record it. During my last days of observation, I
helped the teacher check the concept notes and test papers. I thanked the teacher
for letting me observe her class.

Next class I observed was grade 8 also with six sections, under Ms. Bejerano.
We also go from one room to another. The teacher asked the student to write the
lesson on the board and she explains it. The next day, the teacher asked me to
explain to the students what they should do in their activity. And it happened in a
couple of days. The teacher gave me the learning plan, I write it on the board, I
explain some examples and check it afterwards. During my last days, I also
observed examination procedure. The students were combined with different year
level in one classroom, same subject but different content. They were facilitated by
different subject teachers. After the exam they give the test paper to the master
teacher and I helped her check it. I also thanked the teacher for allowing me to
experience the duties of being a teacher.

I also observed grade 9 but in a short period of time, a short discussion about
the topic followed by activity. The teacher used the textbook as a resource of the
lesson.
I enjoyed the experience of observing, I saw the different strategies of the
teachers and the different behavior of the students. I gained a lot of knowledge
during
my

observation.

(The picture was taken at Grade 8. I was writing on the board and giving some
instruction to the students.)

2. WHAT VISUAL AID THE TEACHER USED?

The visual aids the teachers used were:

In grade 7, the teacher used connected bond papers where the lesson was
printed on it and it is posted at the board. The teacher used computer to
encode the details from the book and print it with a large font. Some of her
reference came from resources like text book and internet websites.

In grade 8, the teacher used printed handouts distributed to the classroom

and the student will copy it on the board. The teacher used the whiteboard
to deliver lesson and their textbook as a resource. Some information came
from the other textbook and internet websites.

3. HOW THE TEACHER PRESENT THE LEARNING RESOURCES?

The teacher gets the topic on the book or on some other resources like
internet websites. She summarized it and gets some important details,
printed it and distributed to all sections. She lets the student copy the
learning plan (concept notes) and she discussed it afterwards. The teacher
presents the lesson through discussion and assessment. She gives activity on
some related topics.
4. IDENTIFY ALL THE VERBAL RESPONSES OF THE STUDENTS, DESCRIBE THE
NON VERBAL RESPONSE
The students have different verbal and nonverbal responses. Some respond
attentively and some take it playfully.
In verbal responses, there are times when the teacher asks question the
students answer chorally. Some students raise their hand to answer, give
example, and ask question. Those students show attentiveness, eagerness,
and understanding of the lesson. But, there are some students who did not
cooperate with the discussion, some are quiet and some are playful.
In nonverbal responses, some students get their materials right ahead, copy
the lesson with neat and creative presentation, listen to discussion, and pass
paper on time. Those student shows attentiveness and eagerness to be good
at their studies. But, there are some students who did not write at all and not
showing interest to the lesson.
5. FOCUS ON THE NONVERBAL RESPONSES; ARE THEY LEANING FORWARD IN
THE LESSON?
In nonverbal responses, there are students who are focus to the lesson, listen
attentively and follow instruction. Those responses indicate that the students
show interest to the lesson. Those students are showing good performance in
the class. But there are some who are not listening and doing something else.
