Password Management Guide OPERA
Select the New button and fill in the necessary details of the new user that you are creating. On the lower right
part of this screen the correct boxes should be ticked, representing which application the new user should have
right to access. If the appropriate box is not ticked, then the user will not be able to enter the application even if
user permissions have been granted.
Once the new user has been created, click on Save. Next the appropriate user permissions should be granted to
the user, this is done by clicking on the Permission button and selecting the permissions that this user should
have.
Once appropriate permissions or user groups have been granted, click on OK to save and close the screen. The
new user may now access the application with the new login and password.
Modifying a password
The first time a new user logs into Opera, a change of password is required. The new password must also be no
less than 7 characters (the maximum is 40) and contain both alphabetic and numeric characters. Additionally it
may not be the same password as any of the previous four passwords that this user may have used.
To change the password at any time, go to the Miscellaneous drop down menu and select Change Password.
Note that Opera automatically will force all users to change password after 90 days.
There are two important application settings that affect the application user.
First, the default time to unlock account which defines how many minutes a user account should remain locked
out after wrong passwords have been entered more than six times. The value should be entered in minutes. A
user account can always be unlocked manually by using the unlock button on the user search screen in the
setup.
Secondly, the number of grace logins defines how many times you wish to allow a user account to be able to
login after his valid password period of 90 days has expired.
If you are interested in implementing LDAP for your hotel, please review the functionality in F1 Opera online help
or feel welcome to contact your local MICROS-Fidelio office.
