Homicide Investigation
Springfield, Illinois On March 20, at approximately 1:03 p.m., Springfield Police responded to
the 1800 block of South 16th Street for a reported stabbing. Upon arriving, officers located an
unresponsive 17-year-old male lying in the parkway next to the street with what appeared to
be a single stab wound to the upper torso. The victim was transported to St. Johns Hospital
where he succumbed to his injury.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male, was apprehended in the 2100 block of South 14th Street a
short time after the incident. He was transported to the Springfield Police Department to be
interviewed by detectives. This investigation is on-going. Report #S17-24213.
