Kia Ora,
We love seeing your children scootering to school. It is great to see them wearing their helmets as well. Please can
you ensure they have a padlock for their scooters as we dont take any responsibility for stolen scooters.

Parking Outside School - Pick Up

Please respect our staff who are doing road duty after school. If you are parking on the yellow lines it is difficult for
us to see cars approaching. You will be asked to move so please do so.
There are 400 students and 76 staff onsite so it is impossible for everyone to park outside the school gates.
Student care and safety is EVERYONEs responsibility.

Vision Testing
Thanks to those parents of the 90 or so Year 5&6 students who returned their consent forms so their children could
be vision tested. A number of students received notice that they would be retested. If required they will be provided
with free glasses.

Parent Evening / Hui / Fono - all are welcome!

We would like to invite all our amazing parents / caregivers to our school on Wednesday 29th March. We would
like to get feedback from you and your family on your cultural aspirations for your child.

As requested by you, you will have the opportunity to catch up with other parents who are from your culture, who
speak your language and have common aspirations for their children. We will share these as a group and see
what aspirations we have in common, and what our differences are. We are committed to meeting the needs of all
our families so please bring with you someone you know has not been before. Likewise, if you are a new family to
Manurewa East, welcome!

We will send home a flyer next week providing more information. So keep this evening free and come on in and
share a cuppa, biscuits and great conversation. We will look after the kids while you are in the meeting :)

Cultural Groups

Hi, Kia ora, Talofa, Malo le lei, Kiaorana, Namaste!

Did you know this year we have Cultural Groups? It is such an exciting time for both the staff and students.
Currently we have tutors taking Tongan, Samoan, Indian, Ukulele and Choir Groups. But we still need to find a
Cook Island Tutor! We also need support from parents in helping with our current groups, as one tutor is not
enough. These groups are pretty popular! If you are able to help support these groups, we have included the
times below. Please send a message with your child or pop in before school and see Whaea Kim in A4.
Monday 1.30pm - 2.00pm Ukulele (Y5/6) & Choir Groups
Tuesday 1.30pm - 2.00pm Tongan group
Wednesday 1.30pm - 2.00pm Samoan group
Thursday 1.30pm - 2.00pm Indian group
Friday 1.30pm - 2.00pm Ukulele (Y3/4)
Cook Island - awaiting a tutor / time
