Student Name: Amanpreet Jassal Course Code: ECS 4070 Age Group: Toddlers Date: March 14, 2017 Learning Experience: Dramatic Programming Purpose: Last week, we saw a firetruck drive by from the window. The children were waving and seemed so amazed. Thus, I decided to focus this weeks activity on pretending to be a firefighter and policeman by dressing up as them. Objective: Children will strengthen social interests (1.1) as they observe and imitate peers. The children will focus their attention on their natural social interest. Children will strengthen perspective taking skills (1.2) as they begin to take the point of view of others (Bob, you are waiting while Lilly wears the police vest, you can wear it next). Engaging the waiting supports a childs behavior regulation as they wait. Children will strengthen social play (1.3) as they play where interest in others is expressed by being close and playing with similar materials. Materials: Firefighter: vest, hat, air bag Police man: vest, hat, handcuffs, badge, walkie talkie Opening (Introduction): Do you guys remember the firefighter truck we saw last week? Has anyone seen a police man? Body (Content) 1. Provide children with information about what a police man and fire fighters do as the children pretend play 2. Incorporate good/bad actions that you do or do not do (behavior reflections) 3. Ask questions (What is the police mans number? What number do we dial in case of an emeregency?) 4. Play a game of finding clues and hints to solve a mystery (Where is the missing dog?) 5. Create a fake fire in the doll house Closing (Ending): Who liked the police costume? Who liked the firefighter costume? They are both so brave and help keep the community safe! Transition: Everyone put one item in the blue bag please.
