The best way children will understand and learn about holidays is by involving them in a hands-on approach activity. Objective: Children will strengthen communication, language and literacy in receptive language (3.1)as they listen to stories and respond to longer more complex sentences. Children will strengthen physical development in sensory discrimination (5.3) as they begin to identify different properties and materials. For example, the beads on the necklace make it bumpy. Children will enhance emotional development in autonomy as they initiate activities, say no and mine, begin to make choices and avoid distractions. Talk about St. Patricks day and inform the children about the Irish culture 3. Talk about the different colours that represent different holidays (ex. green + St. Patricks day, red + valentines day) 4. Do it signals: put the hat on your heads and the necklace around your neck 5. Model to the children by also wearing the materials 6.
