a) The mechanical property limits are minima
b) Property Class 50 represents the steel in the annealed condition.
c) The most common and readily available supply condition is property class 70,
which represents a 'Cold Drawn' for the bar stock from which the fasteners are made.
d) For A2 and A4 fasteners with d>24, the mechanical properties need to be agreed between user and manufacturer and
marked with grade and property class according to this table.
e) All tensile stress values are calculated and reported in terms of the nominal tensile stress area of the thread.
f) The elongation measurement is determined on the actual bolt or screw length and not on a prepared test piece.
It is express in millimetres (mm) of extension and not as percentage elongation, i.e. A=(L2 L1)
(where L1= original length and L2 = Length after fracture)

(1) Free cutting steel is allowed for these property classes with the following maximum values :
S=0.34%, P=0.11%, Pb=0.35%.
(2) For nominal diameters above 20mm the steel specified for class 10.9 may be necessary in order to
achieve sufficient hardenability.
