Learning outcomes The course continuous problems of best known CAD/CAM/CAE system. It covers
advanced modelling techniques. It introduces sheet metal design and motion sequence to
visualise mechanisms by using additional programming units.

Prerequisites Completed introductory courses3D Modelling I and II.

Course description LECTURE


Contents of the package. Features of “high-end” programs. Parametric 3-D models,
Designing sample parts and assemblies.
Symmetry axes, constraints. Dimensioning. Weak and strong dimensions. Modification,
regeneration.
Thin walls solids, Blend, Sweep features.
Copying the features. Patterns, groups of the features.
Relations, editing them. Parent / child relationship.
Design of sheet metal models. Philosophy, ways of viewing.
Creation of the technical documentation. Views and sections. Assistance in engineering
calculation.
Definition of mechanisms as assemblies.

LABORATORY
Configuration of the system and contents of configuration files. Customising the interface
and toolbars.
Advanced pick and place features. Function swept blend with a variable section.
Designing springs and sample parts.
Features Tweak and Round. Advanced methods of rounding elements. Pitch and threads.
Individual models.
Groups, family tables. Creation of the UDF libraries.
Regeneration problems. Diagnostic, removing errors. Assemblies and sub-assemblies.
Creation of the individual drawings.
Sheet metal models. Additional not connected walls, ribs. Walls with reliefs.
Surface development, throwing off the edges. Individual models.
Features of bends. Bending lines and their types. Table of bends, conversion between solid
and sheet metal plates.
Definition of mechanisms as assemblies. Creation of a motion sequence, including saving
and restoring the motion.
Individual projects and registration.
