SHOULD ORGAN TRANSPLANTS BE BANNED?

Everyday people lose their lives to many different causes. Though this is tragic, there

is also a large group of people who could benefit from these deaths, and those people are

people in need of an organ transplant. The need for organs is growing every day, but the

amount provided just is not keeping up. This essay will discuss why organ transplants

should not be banned. First, People can save a life. Next, it can prolong the suffering of the

donors family.

First at all, people with their organs can save a life because of the great lack of organ

donors, the constant need for organs, and the wonderful gift-giving opportunity an organ

provides, mandatory organ donation should be implemented. For example, In Ecuador 63

multiorgan donors were identified in 2015, representing an increase of 26% compared to

2014. More and more people have to donate organs to save a life. This act of kindness,

though, can only be done with consent of both the victim and the family. Each person has a

different way of thinking, so it should be decided by each citizen if donate organs or not.

For example, In Ecuador when people renew their identity card is asked if they wish to be

organ donor.
On the other hand, the family of the deceased donors are not informed that the body will be

kept on life support until the organ will be harvested. So the donors body remains warm

and breathing until it is taken off life support. In most cases, this can be traumatizing for the

surviving family because they could be hopeful of their love ones can be still a chance to be

alive, but some families also have a problem as to who will receive the organ as some of

them may have something against a particular religion, gender or race. However, organ

transplantation or the need for an organ to live occasioned the illegal trade in organs in the

black market.

In conclusion, organ transplants can be such a good idea to do because people can save a

life with their organs, but it is a big decision to make if you do not want to deal with

carousel of missing feelings you are going to have if you find out that the body is still on

life support. People should have the decision if donate organs or not. In my opinion organ

transplants should not be banned.
