City Council Community Centres - Have Your Say:

Cambridge City Council have proposed the closure, merger or redevelopment of their
Community Centres. There is an opportunity to have you views heard about the
proposed plan on Thursday 30 March at the Meadows Community Centre.

Inquiry into Housing for Disabled People: Your Chance to Have Your Say:

The Equality and Human Rights Commission want to hear from disabled people and
relevant organisations. They want to understand whether the availability of accessible
and adaptable housing, and the support services around it, fulfils disabled peoples
rights to live independently.

Disability Rights UK / CQC 'Tell Us About Your Care':

Disability Rights UK have recently entered into a year long partnership with the Care
Quality Commission (CQC) to gather feedback from disabled people about their
experience of health and social care services. The CQC would like to hear from
disabled (and non-disabled) people on their experience of using any of the services

CCVS Training:

CCVS is hosting a 2 part event on Thursday 16 March in Community Room, The


Pavilion, Histon & Impington Recreation Ground, New Road, Impington, CB24 9LU

This aims to help committee members/ trustees to better understand their role and
responsibilities This session will be helpful both to new trustees as well as people who

The Pensions Regulator are hosting a web based seminar on workplace pensions for

Disability Peterborough together with partner charity Inspire Peterborough are hosting
the citys first Disability and Community awareness raising event.

Over 150 stands will be exhibiting during the month-long event which will take place at

The Atrium in Serpentine Green Shopping Centre from Friday 3 March. The event is
being held to help showcase the variety of support services available, both locally and
nationally.

Cambridge University Hospitals - Join the Board of Governors:

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) has ten positions
available on the Board of Governors for its staff, patients and the public.

Being a governor is an exciting opportunity for people to contribute to their local


community and represent those who use Addenbrookes and the Rosie hospitals.
Governors have a say in decisions made at the Trust and play an important role in
making the Trust publicly accountable for the services it provides, ensuring it delivers

Cambridge North Station - Inaccessibility Issues:

Cambridge North Station will open on the 21st May. Vaila Morrison from Inclusive
Home has identified several problems with the station including:

Disabled people potentially getting stranded on platforms.


Having no staff available to ask for assistance or information.
Having no staff available to place ramps down.

CQC Report - The State of Care in NHS Acute Hospitals:

The Care Quality Commission have published a report on the state of care in NHS
acute hospitals, the report captures what they have learned from three years' worth of
inspections.

Take Care When Using Online Primary Care Services:

The Care Quality Commission inspections of some companies providing online


primary care have found significant concerns about patient safety. Well-run services
can offer a convenient and effective form of treatment, but inspectors found services
that were putting patients at risk of harm by selling medicines without doing enough to
check they were appropriate.

Healthwatch Report for Addenbrookes A&E:

Healthwatch have published a report of their visits to Addenbrooke's Hospital in early


December where they spoke to more than 50 people. The report makes seven
recommendations to the hospital to improve care; these are based on observations
and what patients said about their experiences.

Autism Training for Cambridgeshire Taxi Drivers:

An ambitious and ground breaking training programme is due to train around 500 taxi
drivers in autism awareness.

In response to feedback from parents, taxi drivers who transport children and young
people with special educational needs to schools in Cambridgeshire will receive the
training.
