Back To Back PFC Example
Back To Back PFC Example
The torsionally stiff diaphragm connections between the PFCs will actually enable load sharing between the
PFCs but conservatively assume that all the inner leaf loading is taken by the inner PFC and the outer leaf
loading is taken by the outer PFC
max dead udl/PFC = 1.00 x 8.2/2 + 0.35 x 8.2/2 + 0.50 x 3.2/2 + 1.70 x 2.5 + 0.5 = 11.1 kN/m
roof ceiling first floor 100block+plaster s/w
max live udl/PFC = 0.60 x 8.2/2 + 0.25 x 8.2/2 + 2.00 x 3.2/2 = 6.7 kN/m
roof ceiling first floor
NOTE:- the above valoue for Mb is conservative due to the fact that there are torsionally stiff connections
between the two PFCs, enabling the two PFCs to act compositely back to back, thereby increasing the effective
ry value and increasing the Mb value.
Therefore adopt 2no 230x90PFC32, grade S275, back to back, with cavity space
between. Connect together using 100x50x10PFC spacers at 600mm horizontal
centres as illustrated on sheet 04. Total 6no 100x50x10 PFC spacers, each 200mm
long. Bearings 150mm at W.C. end onto 215mm long x wall width x 3no courses deep
class A engineering brick padstone in class (ii) mortar. Bearings 100mm at external
side wall end onto 440mm long x 100mm wide x 3no courses deep class A
engineering brick padstone in class (ii) mortar.
