Exhaust Valves

Dear 5 irs,

It has proved difficult in some cases to dismount the exhaust

valves after running for some time, as charred coke has prevented the
withdrawing.

To meet this, the clearance between valve housing and top

cover has been increased on new engines. On engines in service, the
alteration can be made by turning off the bottom part of the valve
housing, as shown on the enclosed drawing 225142.

The original diameter of 165 mm must be turned on the stated

length to diameter 164 mm -: 0.1 mm.
