UB law school falls from list of top 100

The University at Buffalo Law School slipped out of the top 100 law schools in the country in the
latest U.S. News & World Report survey of the top graduate schools and programs.

The annual report was released Tuesday morning.

The Law School fell to No. 106 with an overall score of 37, tied with Catholic University of
America and Drake University.

The UB law school ranked No. 100 last year, with an overall score of 38. In 2015, it was No. 87.

The top law schools this year were Yale University, with an overall score of 100, followed by
Stanford and Harvard.

The magazine scored law schools by asking deans and faculty members, as well as lawyers,
recruiters and judges, to rate schools on a one to ve scale. The rankings also considered median
scores on the LSAT, the law school entrance exam, and median undergraduate grade-point
averages and acceptance rates; employment rates for 2015 graduates; and the amount schools
spent per student on instruction, library and other areas.

In other rankings of graduate programs and schools:

UB's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences was listed at No. 67, the highest overall
ranking achieved by a University at Buffalo school.
The Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences was rated among the top graduate
school medicine programs in two categories: research at No. 67 and primary care at No. 77.
The UB School of Management was No. 73 among the top business schools, up eight spots
from last year.
UB's nursing program came in at No. 97 for its master's degree, down from No. 75, and at No.
66 for its doctoral degree.
UB's Graduate School of Education was ranked No. 80, down from No. 71 in 2016.
The doctoral programs in English and psychology at UB were rated No. 42 and No. 75,
respectively, in the country, based upon surveys of department chairs and senior faculty.
