University of Rhode Island Musicians Guild to hold first hip-hop show


What: In partnership with Planned Parenthood, the University of Rhode Islands

Musicians Guild is putting on the first hip-hop show in the history of the

organization. The show will feature Providence artist Lunchbagg. Tickets will be

$5 at the door, and food from the 193 Degree Coffee House, with all proceeds

going to Planned Parenthood. The show is completely open to the public .

Who: The Musicians guild is a group of URI students who coordinate shows such as

open mic nights and local band performances on campus. Most of the

shows are free other than charity events. Planned Parenthood is an organization

dedicated to providing easily accessible sexual education, disease and cancer

screenings, and contraception.

Why: Hip-hop has been used to spread social messages which is what were aiming to

do with this show, what better way to introduce our audience to hip-hop than with

this awesome cause! Said Musicians Guild member Dari Strassfield.
