16075 Equipment Identification and Labeling

Part 1 General Information

1.01 Scope Of Section:

A. Provide identification nameplates for each piece of equipment including but not
limited to; individual switches, disconnects, starters, panel boards, motor control
center structures, and terminal boxes. Nameplates shall include equipment
number or name as designated on the drawings, or as described by the Owner.

B. Provide typed circuit directory for each switchboard and panelboard, and install in
the pocket provided.

2.01 Equipment Nameplates

A. Provide nameplates made of black-white-black laminated 1/8 inch (3.175mm)


thick plastic plates. Make characters inch (6.35mm) high and cut through the
black to show the white of the plate.

2.02 Hand/Off/Auto Switch Nameplates

A. Provide permanent marking showing the functions of each switch position.

2.03 Forward/Off/Reverse Switch Nameplates

A. Provide permanent marking showing the functions of each switch position.

2.04 Wire Numbers

A. Label each power and control conductor entering each motor control panel on the
load side of the connection terminal block and at each external controlled or pilot
device (motor, sensor, switch, disconnect, etc.) in its connection junction box, and
any intermediate terminal or junction box with a numbered band.

B. Label all branch circuits in power distribution panels and all junction boxes with
numbers corresponding to circuit numbers.

C. Label all cables according to the drawings, with a permanent label, preferably
made from stainless steel or plastic.

D. Wire numbers shall correspond to control panel schematic and wiring diagrams
external connection terminal numbers.

E. Wire number labels shall be factory made for that purpose.

Part 3 - Execution

3.01 Installation

A. Secure nameplates to each control device with screws.

B. Attach wire numbers at the point of termination, or were they can be easily
recognized.
