Thunder Bay Ontario, March 27, 2017. The Board of Directors of NorWest Community Health Centres is
pleased to announce the appointment of Juanita Lawson, as Chief Executive Officer. She will assume
responsibilities on May 1, 2017 and will succeed Wendy Talbot, who is retiring after 20 years of service at
NorWest CHCs.
Juanita has considerable clinical and management experience in health services and joined NorWest CHC in
2009 as the Director of Clinical Services. In that capacity, Juanita demonstrated strong leadership in clinical
services and in forming partnerships with others in the community.
Juanitas client-centered focus and strengths-based leadership will be a great asset to NorWest CHCs. The
Board of Directors is excited to work with Juanita in this new role said NorWest Community Health Centres
Board of Directors Chair, David Richards.
Juanita Lawson earned a PhD in Social Work from the University of Calgary, Master of Social Work from
Lakehead University, Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Guelph, and an
Advanced Health Leadership Certificate from the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto. She
has a wide range of clinical and management experience in a variety of settings including private practice, non-
profit organizations, and the government.
