Mechanics is an applied science - it does not rely on experience or
observation alone; but emphasis on deductive reasoning. (Deductive
reasoning is a logical process in which a conclusion is based on the
concordance of multiple premises that are generally assumed to be
true).
Mechanics is the foundation of most engineering sciences
and is an indispensable prerequisite to their study.
