I also reviewed DES Reports for Loreto CS Milford
WSE (April 2012)
MTW and CS Subject Inspection (Oct 2011)
I used recommendations from these reports in my
lessons:
Regular Homework
Learning Targets for each class and tick them
off on the board once target completed
More frequent feedback to students (AfL)
More work on Literacy and Numeracy
Record Keeping
Daily Roll

Record of what was

completed in each class

Daily Roll
Behaviour and
Homework Records
DCG Worksheets
Teacher Exemplar Models and Drawings

To show the students what

they should be aiming for.
Self-Assessment Template for Students to Assess their Marking Out

Students put their piece

behind the template to see
how accurate their marking
out is. Students cannot
trace the template because
of the laminate around it.
Literacy Strategy that I used.
At the beginning of a topic
give students a list of key
words. They decide which
column to write them in
depending on how well they
know the word. As they
become more familiar with
the word they can move it to
a new column.
Posters I Made up for Classrooms
Traffic Light Assessment
Daily Reflections
Seasoning Practical Activity

When doing seasoning with the 2nd Year MTW

class I got the students in groups to make up a
model of the air seasoning. We used the models
to discuss air seasoning and the advantages and
disadvantages of it.

Implementing feedback from GMIT Tutors

From Endas Visit:

I tried to include more higher order questions in my classes. When asking questions, I wait for a wee while for the
students to think about the question. During the class Enda observed, I was jumping in with answers to questions
before the students got to think about them or answer them. I also got students to work in groups to try and solve
new areas themselves. This was witnessed in the lesson Kevin came for.
During demos, I ensure that the students are well spread out and that they are all within my field of vision.

From Kevins Visit:

Use of more teaching methodologies in my lessons.
I will continue to read and research in order to add to my breadth of knowledge.

From Last Years Reports:

I worked on my voice projection, animation, stance and body gestures.
I also included real life examples and models where relevant.
