 History
The Liberal Party has dominated federal politics for much of
Canada's history, using the formula for success of straddling
the political center developed under the leadership of Sir Wilfrid
Laurier.

Liberals have formed numerous governments and provided

Canada with 10 prime ministers, but the party has also
experienced defeat and internal divisions. Most recently, in the
election of October 2015, the party rose from third to first place
in the House of Commons, winning a majority government
under leader Justin Trudeau.

The Liberal Party promises to work out a system for workers who have trouble
with employment

We will fix Employment Insurance to better serve Canadians now, and help boost
Canadas economic growth now and in the long-term.

Starting in 2017, we will reduce the waiting period for benefits. When a worker loses
their job and applies for Employment Insurance, they will only be without income for
one week, not two.

We will not let Canadas Armed Forces be shortchanged, and we will
not lapse military spending from year to year. We will also reinvest in

building a leaner, more agile, better-equipped military, including
adequate support systems for military personnel and their families.

The Liberal Party will try to revamp and reinvest the military
and will make sure to spend the funds efficiently to meet the needs
of the military and issues surrounding it.

We will do our part to help Canadian children live healthier
lives, with less exposure to known health risks.

To help families make better food choices, we will:

introduce new restrictions on the commercial
marketing of unhealthy food and beverages to
children, similar to those now in place in Quebec;
bring in tougher regulations to eliminate trans fats,
similar to those in the U.S., and to reduce salt in
processed foods; and
improve food labels to give more information on added
sugars and artificial dyes in processed foods.

The Liberal Party cares about not just the economy

and workers, but also the children of said workers that
help the economy grow.
