LESSON: Scooters

OBJECTIVES:
Students will learn coordination.
Students will learn how to balance.
Students will learn spatial awareness.
Students will learn how to work as a team.
Students will learn how to communicate and develop a strategy.

SAFETY:
Inform students on proper way of sitting/kneeling on a scooter
Inform students of potential dangers when on a scooter
Go over rules, guidelines of activity

EQUIPMENT:
Jump Ropes (stations)
Scooters
A soft ball
Goals
Jerseys

INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITY/WARM UP:


8 stations, 30 seconds each.
Music will indicate the start and stop and when to rotate

LESSON FOCUS / PROCEDURES: (activities, organization)

Activity: Scooter Speedball


3rd-5 th
- Each student will be placed on a team
o Each team will have 2 groups
- Each team will stand on respective gym side wearing jerseys to indicate teammates.
o 1 group from each team will be issued a scooter and placed on their respective side on
the playing floor.
Students must sit on their bottoms at all times and use only their legs for
movement.
- Objective is to score on opponents goal utilizing passes and move toward the goal.
o When students catch a pass they must stop and look to pass or score (cannot move
with ball in hand).
- Students must pass the ball to another teammate other than the teammate they received the
pass from. (cannot pass back and forth to same person over and over again)
- Other group from team will remain on their respective side and may catch a pass or retrieve a
loose ball as long as it proceeds across the boundary line
CLOSURE:
Recap what worked and didnt work
All equipment is returned and questions are answered
Drink and line up for dismissal

MODIFICATIONS:
- Adjust size of goal box if necessary
- Bigger scooter may be necessary for some who may need it
- Limitations on how long one can hold the ball and how many passes a team must have before
scoring.
