Zion’s Love Feast

On Tuesday, July 27th, Zion will be serving the Love Feast. We will need monetary donations, as well as
volunteers to help prepare and serve the meal. Please contact Grace Sondreal at 847-2923 if you can
volunteer.

Sidewalk Sonday School

School supplies are needed for children who have attended Sidewalk Sonday School. They will be given
out at the reunion & backpack give-away on August 10. The following items are needed: spiral
notebooks, glue sticks, folders, markers, rulers, colored pencils, and small scissors. Please bring supplies
to the church by Aug. 1. Thank you for your help!

“Welcome to Zion” video

We are creating a short video welcome message for our website that will provide information about the
Zion church family for persons who are wishing to learn more about why Zion is a great church to call
home. To produce this video, we need your story of why Zion is an important part of your life. The video
can be recorded at the church, or at your home. Please contact Ute Adams (uteadams@gra.midco.net) by
August 1st to schedule a time for recording. Ute can be reached by phone at 795.1811.

Wednesday Evening Fellowship

Can’t make it to church on Sunday during the summer months? Come Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm
to 7:00pm for fellowship and spiritual growth! We begin with a fellowship meal at 5:30pm, which is
followed by a hymn sing and a Bible study. Children’s activities are provided during study time.

This week’s study will focus on Romans 7:7-25 and consider the challenge of living a Christian life in a
down-and-dirty world. Can you live like a Christian in the “real” world and still get ahead?

This Week’s Lectionary Reading

8th Sunday after Pentecost. The liturgical color is green, which expresses the ongoing work of
God.
 Amos 8:1-12
 Psalm 52
 Colossians 1:15-28
 Luke 10:38-42

This Week’s Bible Teaching from Pastor Russ

Text: Psalm 52
Sermon Focus: This teaching will focus on prayers of examination, prayers that ask God to search our
hearts and thoughts and let us know what He finds. It’s a very human tendency to make allowances for
“gray areas” in our lives. But, does this work in God’s sight? The writer of Psalm 52 would say, “No!”
