07 Background After Bolan dam was washed away I 1976 there was no source of drinking water
History. supplies to the population of the area. To suffice the drinking water requirements
of the area about 10 tube wells wre installed in Sanni area and connected to
Ghag. Tangoti, Landhi Sharif and Bakhtiarabad. Hoever, due to system overload
at head and other social reasons water could not reach Bhag Town and other
downstream areas.

07 Background The current project has been conceived for providing clean drinking water to the
History. entire city of Panjgur and to make provision for meeting the future demands. The
history of water supply system of Panjgur city goes way back to 1969 which
included 9 interconnected shallow percolation Wells leading to a sump well fitted
with two diesel driven engines and an overhead service reservoir of 10,000
gallons capacity. This system fed 60 domestic connections and 13 stand posts. In
addition to this a tube well fitted with turbine pump was also installed to cater for
the domestic water supplies of a colony. In this way mare 20,000 gallons @ per
day were supplied to a total population of 25000 souls.

07 Background The main objective of the scheme is to provide clean/hygienic drinking and
History. dependable drinking water to the rural masses. The population of the area facing
acute shortage of drinking water and the scheme or implementation will not only
provide drinking water but also save the precious time presently being wastage in
fetching water. On other income generalizing activities may be restored during the
time the project will therefore, contribute the Socio Economic status of the area.
After implementation of the project drinking Water could be supplied to the
present and forecasted population of the area.
