In March of 2000, Finland implemented a new constitution that
Can alter the Constitution and
increases parliaments power in relation to the president. The new
override Presidents vetoes. constitution restricted some of the Presidents powers, and increased the
role of the Prime Minister.
Women of Power
Women make up 38% of 200 seats of Eduskunta, and 8 out of 18 women
were cabinet memebers, as of 2003. Women have also held crucial roles
such as Defense Minister, Foreign Minister, Speaker of Parliament,
President, and Prime Minister.
Voting Process
Voting in Finland is a little different from the U.S. Most citizens of
Finland who are at least 18 may vote in an election; however, in
municipal and European Parliament elections, citizens from other
countries within Finland may vote. A notice of a citizens right to vote is

designates the specific polling section.
