Statics of Rigid Bodies

PROBLEM SET 1
Random Number based on students ID Number; Ex. 2010 - 1234
RN1- number based from the fourth digit; RN1 4321
RN2- number based from the third digit; RN2 3214
RN3- number based from the second digit; RN3 2143

Round off all quantities involving RN to the nearest whole number

i.e., for example 10.9 as 11.0
Problem 1
A transmission tower is held by three guy wires anchored by bolts at
B, C, and D. If the tension in wire AB is (2100+ 0.001*RN1) lbs,
determine the components of the force exerted by the wire on the bolt
at B, C, and D.

Problem 2
A transmission tower is held by three guy wires anchored by bolts at
B, C, and D. If the tension in wire AD is (1200+ 0.001*RN1) lbs,
determine the components of the force exerted by the wire on the bolt
at B, C, and D.
Problem 3
A rectangular plate is supported by three cables as shown. Knowing
that the tension in the cable AB is (400 + 0.002* RN3) N, determine
the components of the force exerted on the plate at B, C, and D.

Problem 4

A rectangular plate is supported by three cables as shown. Knowing

that the tension in the cable AD is (400 + 0.02*RN3) N, determine the
components of the force exerted on the plate at B, C, and D.

Problem 5

Three cables are connected at A, where the forces P and Q are applied
as shown. Knowing that Q = 0, find the value of P for which the
tension in cable AD is (300 + 0.01*RN2) N.
