Aspirin or Acetylsalicylic Acid (C9H8O4) is an anti-inflammatory drug

used for lowering fewer and a remedy for body pain and aches, such as
toothache, muscle pain and headaches. It is used widely in medical field.

2. What is the starting material to make your product?

The reactants for this particular synthesis are 1 gram of salicylic acid
(CHO) and 3-mL acetic anhydride ( (CHCO)O ).
CHO + (CHCO)O C9H8O4 +CH3COOH

3. What is the % yield given in the paper?

The % yield given in this paper is 60%.

4. How many grams of product were made?

The product made was 0.780 grams.

5. How many moles of product were made?

1 mol aspirin
0.780 grams 180.157 grams = 0.00433 moles of product was made.

6. How many grams of product would be produced if they obtained a 95%

yield?
