It is my pleasure to offer this letter of reference for
Ms Cristina Silva-Ferreira.
I have known Cristina since 2005 when her parents hired me to tutor her in
multiple academic subjects. Through that activity, her wonderful family and I
have developed a positive relationship that continues to evolve each year. I have
had the delight of watching Cristina grow from a quiet, passive little girl into a
strong-willed and secure young woman, despite some exceptional challenges that
have come her way during her short life.
Cristina has been able to maintain honor roll status during years of
academic endeavors while working in the community no less than twenty hours
each week. She has an amazing ability to prioritize school assignments,
employment, friendships and other obligations without diminishing any one of
them. When she has made a decision, it is generally based on some kind of
thoughtful research and not necessarily emotion or outside pressure. I have
never known her to sacrifice anything involving employment or academic
composition for immediate indulgences.
Though Cristina is constantly smiling and sharing her delightful sense of
humor, she is also analyzing the world around her, watching, listening, processing.
She has been planning for her future since before entering high school by
studying languages and cultures on her own time. I would recommend this
incredibly talented young woman for just about any position or undertaking that
might be lobbed at her.
