FIXED-TERM CONTRACT RESEARCH FELLOW ON ENERGY CHOICES

Three years starting from February 2017 (to be discussed)


The Jacques Delors Institute is looking for a research fellow to take part in a research project on the socio-economic
drivers of energy choices, for three years, starting from February 2017. He/she will also take part in the activities of
the Jacques Delors Institute with regards to the European Energy Policy and the creation of the Energy Union.
Ideal profile:
- Excellent academic background in social sciences (esp. in sociology, political science), with ideally an
expertise on energy policy, on individual or collective energy choices. (PhD is a plus)
- Significant professional experience in social science research involving literature review and academic
research, the ability to work autonomously in a multicultural and multidisciplinary team environment,
- Excellent analytical and written skills,
- Excellent command of English (English at native level is a plus).

His/her main tasks will be:

- Take part in a research project on the socio-economic drivers of energy behaviours, as part of the project
ENABLE.EU enabling the Energy Union through understanding the drivers of individual and collective energy
choices in Europe (a description of the project can be found on the European Commission website).
- Coordinate and collaborate with a team of European researchers (coming from institutions like the London
School of Economics, Cambridge Econometrics, University of Mnster etc.) to perform a literature review of
the existing theories, qualitative and quantitative studies of the drivers of both individual and collective
energy choices. (February June 2017)
- Implement in France two case studies drafted by two partner organisations, on the topics of heating &
cooling choices and energy governance choices. (year 2)
- Work with Jacques Delors Institute research staff on the dissemination of the projects policy relevant
research finding (from 2017 to 2019), drafting and diffusing policy recommendations based on those findings
(in 2018 and 2019).
- Write briefs and synthesis of seminars on the European Energy Policy debate
- Assist the team in the organisation of seminars or other events and in the dissemination of the Jacques
Delors Institutes work.
Location: the researcher would have an office in Paris made available for him/her but he/she could work from other
locations
