Hobart is the capital and most populated city of the island state of Tasmania , Australia .

It is located at
the mouth of the Derwent River , at the foot of Mount Wellington with a height of 1,270 meters.
It was founded in 1804 by Colonel David Collins with 300 prisoners, a few sailors and about 30 free
settlers. Hobart is the second oldest capital of Australia after Sydney .In 2015 the city had a population
of 221,000 inhabitants.
Hobart has no official language, but Australian English is the city's main language and is the first
language of the majority of the population. Hobart, as part of Tasmania, Australia, uses the Australian
dollar ($) as its currency. Most major credit cards are accepted in Tasmania.
With its captivating history, picturesque waterways, rugged mountains and gourmet experiences, the city

Hobart has a mild temperate oceanic climate. Thanks to ideal weather conditions, it produces

It experiences four distinct seasons, each with its own beauty and charm:
During summer in Hobart, average temperatures range from 11.5 - 21C. The months of January and
February are also the driest, and beaches are warm enough to swim.
Autumn has many calm, sunny days, with average temperatures between 8.9 - 17.3C. The city is
blanketed in deep red and yellow hues as the trees begin to change.
During winter the mount Wellington is dotted with snow and average daily temperatures range from 5 -
12.3C. Overnight temperatures can drop as low as 3C.
During spring, average temperatures range from 7.8 - 16.9C. This is the wettest time of year, however it
should be noted that Hobart is Australias second-driest capital city.
Drive or take a tour to the summit of Mount Wellington for spectacular views of the city, harbour and the
peaks of the World Heritage Area in the distance.
